::\Some Poems From Chicken Soup/::
Have You Ever?
Have you ever lived my life?
Spent one minute in my shoes?
If you haven't then tell me why
You judge me as you do.
Have you ever woken up in the morning
Wondering if this was your last day on Earth?
Have you ever left your house
Unsure if you'd return?
Have you ever seen your friend get shot
Outside his favourite store?
Have you ever seen a friend die
From drugs he'd never used before?
Have you ever seen your mom get beat up
By your stepdad messed up on booze?
Have you ever had an unwanted pregnancy
Forcing you to choose?
Have you ever sat beneath the stars
Hoping God will hear?
Have you ever seen your friend drive away
After way too many beers?
Have you ever had a friend
Experiment with weed?
Have you ever covered up guilt
By doing a good deed?
Have you ever considered suicide
As the only way?
Have you ever tried to hide yourself
Behind the things you say?
Have you ever wanted to protect
Your friends and everyone in sight?
Have you ever felt such pain
That you cried yourself to sleep at night?
Have you ever lived my life,
Spent one minute in my shoes?
If you haven't, then please
Tell me why you judge me as you do.

My version:
Have you ever lived my life?
Spent one minute in my shoes?
If you haven't then tell me why
You judge me as you do.
Have you ever felt the hatred inside
When someone mocks and teases you for no apparent reason?
Have you ever felt like a caged bird
Locked up in your own prison?
Have you ever lost someone so dear to you
You thought you could live no more?
Have you ever scalded yourself so bad there was a scar
When you were but just four?
Have you ever wanted to cut yourself so badly
But decided against it just in time?
Have you ever said things you didn't mean
And then wished that life was just a mime?
Have you ever felt the blows of angry words
From close friends you once loved?
Have you ever just want to sprout wings
And fly away like a dove?
Have you ever had a friend
Die in an accident totally beyond his control?
Have you ever felt your life was so messed up
That you just wanted to put everything on hold?
Have you ever thought of the fastest way to end your life
Is by firing a bullet through your head?
Have you ever cried your eyes dry
And fall asleep on your bed?
Have you ever felt so lonely
You cried yourself to sleep?
Have you ever felt so eager
Only to see others destroy all those you reap?
Have you ever lived my life,
Spent one minute in my shoes?
If you haven't, then please
Tell me why you judge me as you do.

Good-bye My Angel Dear
My days draw long and weary
When you're no longer near.
Confidence is filled with questions
Strength replaced with fear.
The assuredness that I awake with each day
Is nowhere to be found,
As though my dreams and aspirations
Were buried underground.
I hear your voice being carried by wind
Like your fingers through my hair.
I close my eyes and remember your kiss
And wish that you were there.
So with nothing left but one thing to say
To resolve my heartbreak here,
Good-bye my darling and my love
Good-bye my angel dear.

Dear Friend,
I may not always be there for you, but in my heart, there will always be a space reserved. Just for you. Although you may not pick me for a listening ear, but please know that, you are always welcome. I want you also to know that you will not hurt my feelings, if you choose to turn to another friend. All I want you to do is to be rid of your troubles, and not feel pressurized again, be it for a day or a year.
Friend, you may not be able to see yourself clearly. You may always think you are right, but in reality, are wrong. I can be your mirror, if you wish me to, and tell you your mistakes. I can be there to correct you and guide you to the right path, if you let me. When you are down in the dumps, I can show you the exit, and hold your hand until you get there. When you feel vexed over something, I can bring you a candle and hold it until you solve your problem. I will not make a sound, nor will I interrupt you. I will steady you, until you are able to walk once more.
Friend, you may wish to fly over the trees and soar with the wind in your hair. But, friend, please remember that I will be here waiting for you. And please promise me you will never forget to return. When you are caught in a downpour, remember that just a call from you, will bring me running with an umbrella. You may not wish to share this umbrella with me, but it is alright, my friend, for I am willing to sacrifice anything just to see you well.
Friend, you may have hurt me a couple of times and may even have left scars in my heart. But, it is all right. Without the scars, there would be nothing left to remind me of you if you choose to leave one day. My friend, you may not always be perfect, but then again, no one is. I do not expect much from you, all I want is friendship in return.
Friend, do remember one more thing. I can be your safe haven, your confidante, your runaway hideout. But, only if you let me. DonĄŻt lie to me and then try to regain my trust. Treat me like a friend, and IĄŻll treat you like one.
A friend
